Your Boots on the Ground in China
Professional fixing for foreign TV, documentary, and news productions — from Beijing’s corridors to the highland villages of Yunnan.
Foreign productions operating in China face a formidable set of challenges: a complex regulatory environment, regional language variation, restricted access, and a cultural landscape that rewards insider knowledge.
I provide fixing services that allow your production to operate with confidence — handling everything from permits and logistics to talent sourcing and last-minute problem-solving, so your team can focus on the story.
“A fixer is simultaneously your researcher, your translator, your cultural guide, your logistics coordinator, and your safety net. In China, having the right one isn’t an advantage — it’s the difference between a production that works and one that doesn’t.”

Access Across the Full Breadth of China
A significant part of what I offer is access that generic fixers cannot provide. My work extends well beyond China’s major cities into areas that require dedicated local knowledge, community trust, and experience with sensitive regional dynamics.
Major Cities
Full production support in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and beyond — including institutional access, academic and expert contacts, and professional subject sourcing.
Rural & Remote China
Experience operating across China’s rural interior — areas with limited infrastructure where local trust and regional knowledge are prerequisites for any successful production.
Ethnic Minority Communities
Deep familiarity with China’s ethnic minority communities across Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Sichuan — including the Miao, Yi, Dong, Li, Naxi, and dozens of others.
Tibet & Xinjiang
Experience with the distinct regulatory and logistical requirements for filming in Tibet and Xinjiang — permit processes, restricted zone access, and sensitive subject handling. Discussed on a per-project basis.
Why This Works
My background is not that of a traditional fixer who operates primarily in capital cities. I have spent years travelling and writing about the full breadth of China — its ethnic minorities, its border regions, its rural communities, and its cities. That depth of access and relationship translates directly into better locations, more authentic subjects, and fewer surprises in the field.
